For this post, I'm copying my FB post. It summarizes the day well.

Praising God for his protection today. Driving to Sedona for a few days of relaxing and hiking. Coming down I 17, about 12:30 pm, just before the turn off to Sedona, a car in front of us must have hit ice and started spinning, swerving and he ended up driving up the left hand berm against the flow of traffic. Jon’s excellent driving kept us from impacting anything… But did not prevent the cars behind us from hitting us. As cars were hitting us, I was praying over and over “God protect! God protect.!” All I could think was that we might not survive and many others might be seriously injured or killed. During this whole process, maybe two or three minutes, a semi went barreling by in the middle of the road. All we can think is he knew if he braked he would lose control of the truck. And he apparently made it through with no problems. Which is a major praise, because the semi added to this mix would not have been good.

The end result… Several cars totaled, including ours. From what a sheriff told Jon, 14 cars were involved. Lois was transported to the hospital, I rode in the ambulance. She has three lacerations on her skull, and 21 stitches. Otherwise we are both fine. Sore and shaken up, but nothing broken! And from what everybody said, she was the worst injury.
We were able to get a rental car and we've settled in our timeshare. Jon got us broccoli, cheddar soup, rolls, and salami for dinner. We are grateful beyond words! We will reassess tomorrow, better thinking we will relax here a couple days before going home. Maybe no hiking😉🙃🥰. We expect we will be a little sore…
