Today is the first day of our newest vacation. We got to Fort Lauderdale Thursday night. We are waiting for our mini-reunion cruise with my academy class (1983). We will be on the Celebrity Silhouette, sailing to Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.
This is our view from our hotel, a La Quinta. Not the typical La Quinta setting, and very nice. In walking distance to a shopping area with a few good restaurants. We walked to dinner last night and ate at TGI Fridays.
We didn't get in until late last night, so today we slept in. We decided to just go walking. We found a really cool park and walked around the lake. TY park. That's short for Topeekeegnee Yugnee, which is Seminole for "a meeting or gathering place".
Our obligatory selfie:
Jon's seafood ceviche, my seafood fried rice, and the free appetizer - cancha serrana, a traditional Peruvian snack of toasted corn nuts.
We also found a couple of geocaches. This is from our geocaching app. It shows a map of the park.
My step count after dinner tonight:
Now we're vegging on "The Martian" before bed. Tomorrow we meet up with our classmates at the cruise terminal.
